With Energy Star Appliances and products, you can save up to 30%Lately I have been considering replacing some of our older appliances with new efficient Energy Star Appliances. Our fridge is close to ten years old but is a very costly item to replace and like most families we usually don’t think about this sort of stuff until it just stops working. Time to think ahead and look at why it would be good to look at replacing that energy sucking appliance sooner rather than later.
When looking for that next refrigerator, oven, water heater, or ceiling fan we should remember this symbol above. The typical household spends $1,900 a year on energy bills. With Energy efficent appliances and products, you can save up to 30% or more than $600 per year, with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. That makes putting aside the money for that new fridge a bit more palatable and Energy Star helps us make the energy efficient choice. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. In 1992 the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced Energy Star as a voluntary labeling program designed to identify and promote energy-efficient products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Computers and monitors were the first labeled energy star products. Energy Star stickers can be found in more than 50 product categories including major appliances, office equipment, lighting, and home electronics. EPA has also extended the label to cover new homes and commercial and industrial buildings.
